George and Charlotte’s Lincoln proposal was a shoot I will never forget. Such a special moment to be part of, and to be able to capture these memories for George and Charlotte and their families was a career highlight for sure.
George contacted me a few months before his visit to Lincoln and explained his plans. New York born and bred Charlotte loved George’s home town of Lincoln so he just knew that’s where he wanted to ask her. George had planned on having Lincoln Cathedral as the backdrop to his proposal. I arrived early to get into my incognito tourist photographer act and this is what I saw:

Scaffolding all around the Cathedral and the arches in front. I quickly messaged a jet lagged George and said we’d have to go for plan B; Steep Hill. Equally as beautiful and the light beaming up the hill was so dreamy. It was meant to be. So I stood taking photographs of buildings, waiting for George and Charlotte, hoping I recognised them.
Once I spotted them I had to follow and wait for the right moment without giving anything away to Charlotte. It was harder than you might think, I’m not cut out for being a spy thats for sure. It was such an honour to witness and capture this special moment. I hope you enjoy looking at this collection as much as I did taking them.
If you know of anyone planning a proposal definitely suggest hiring a photographer (me please?) to capture the moment.
